The Mastiff is truly a spectacular breed. They are loyal and loving gentle giants. They are wonderful family dogs and love children. While Mastiffs were bred to fight and guard, years of good and selective breeding have created a Mastiff today that you can feel completely comfortable with in any situation. Our dogs go everywhere with us and inevitably end up surrounded by children and often end up lying down with kids using them for a pillow. But, Mastiffs are also (and should be) appropriately protective. We live on 10 acres and they guard our little castle. At night, if we are not home, or when I am away on business they become more protective. They are not barkers, but will bark once or twice to let us know someone is around and to warn the guest or intruder that a Mastiff is watching this home. But, a snip out of fear or anger never happens. They fear nothing and would only bite to protect themselves or their family if absolutely necessary just as any good dog should.

Mastiff do not need a large home or lot, but do need regular exercise which can be as simple as a short walk. They love to be by your side and heal almost by nature.
